Couldn't be more thrilled to be invited to lunch at Aunty J's. Celebrating S's birthday still, and we were invited to go EAT. The best of Kerala food came out from this kitchen. The dining table was chockfull of EVERYTHING DELICIOUS.
Choya was invited too, and we all met Aunty J's new 5-month-old maltipoo puppy, Leo. He's so fluffy, gosh. All white floof, but he's only 3.5kg. He'll grow a little more I think. The man and I were extra watchful because we know that Choya doesn't fancy nose bumps and face licks. She would tolerate some butt-sniffing, but no humping. We would not have her nip the puppy today.
She is generally not okay with puppies although she would accommodate them for a bit. She did let out a bark when she went to the corner and Leo didn't understand and invaded her space. That was Warning #1. We didn't let her go beyond that. Split them up after. Allowed them to meet again later, supervised. Leo learnt! That was quick. He sniffed Choya's butt, but he gave her face a wide berth. LOL.
Prawn biryani provided all the delicious carbs. I had two servings of that. There were mutton curry, chicken curry, grilled eggplant, and beef cutlets! Washed all of it down with rice and a truckload of raita. I love raita with pomegranate seeds! Lunch was seriously awesome.
Then it was dessert time! I blinked at the full table again. There were three kinds of dessert! Woah! In-season mango, a birthday cake in coffee sponge, and payasam! Aunty J made a giant pot of payasam and ensured that we had a box to take home with us. The man was beyond thrilled. He ate a huge bowl. Once I got home, I kept a small bowl in the fridge, and froze the rest. I took N's suggestion of using an ice-cube tray. Then the payasam could keep better, and it would easily be retrieved in guilt-free portions.
We were so so stuffed. We rolled home and promptly fell into a food coma. There was no way I could have a full dinner. I could only have a bowl of soup, with no additional carbs. Hahahah. It was nice to come together to celebrate S's birthday. For another year that we have this friendship, and we're glad to see him and his family healthy and doing fine.
