Fixed a last-minute lunch with W. Thought of having lobster and oysters, but Luke's was full, so normal food at Bread Street Kitchen it was. Heh. Bread Street Kitchen always feels like a lunch place to me instead of dinner. Or rather, I keep gravitating towards it as a lunch venue. It's sheltered, it's got natural light, it's in town, accessible via car and train. Perfect.
Ordered a prosecco while waiting for W, and had another one with the meal. I (privately) celebrated meeting a few tight and tough deadlines at work. I was crazy to take on extra projects, but I did anyway. Somehow, with the Smol Girl not having diarrhea and having a balanced gut allows me the time and mind space to fully focus on uhhhhh earning some dough for her food and erm, vet bills.
My default lunch dish is either a hearty Caesar's salad or the steamed fish which is usually a red snapper. The fish and chips work too if I'm in the mood for fried stuff. I wanted a salad today, and didn't want kale. So today was a Caesar's salad. Pimped it up with halloumi and avocado. I do like that one cured anchovy fillet too. It was totally satisfying. I left all the bacon bits behind. Heh.
W decided to do a 300g dry-aged ribeye. She was hesitant about the size of it. I said I would share. But I was naughty. I literally took less than 100g of meat and left the rest to her. Hahahah. She finished it anyway. The steak came with little bits of grilled mushroom, cherry tomatoes and watercress. It was a looooooong lunch, and we had time for coffee. It was good to catch up with W after not seeing her for months. The next time we meet will likely be in December.
