Went to Meatsmith Little India specially for its July's burger special. They offered 'The Codfather', a creation by Chef Dean Bush as a nod to his hometown of England. It was a hot day and the evening was just as searing. The fans barely cooled the outdoor tables as we were next to the asphalt road and idling vehicles kept pulling up next to us.
Ordered bites of Ikura Papadam, and Crispy Prata and Beef Con Carne. The beef con carne tasted was great, but the crispy prata held a crazy amount of oil. I think the kitchen didn't drain it at all. The oil ended up puddling at the bottom of the bowl. There was no way I could finish the prata. The chilli was tasty though. The restaurant is also featuring produce from Victoria, Australia this month, so the Ikura Papadum used fresh roe from the trout caught from Yarra Valley.
The fish burger arrived in a nice size, something that I could eat without being stuffed, and could still have a bite or two of other dishes. As the name indicated, it used battered cod fish, and held mashed peas, capers, gherkins, iceberg lettuce and lemon aioli. The burger buns were on point and supberly delicious. The sad part is, no chips came with the burger. The restaurant doesn't serve chilli sauce; they offered ketchup. Ermmm. Naaaah.
