Caught up with the friends before the Diwali crowds throng the restaurants and they take a break for the holidays. The man cannot do without his thrice-a-week dose of Indian spices. We gathered for a lovely lunch at Zaffron Kitchen on East Coast Road.
We had bhel puri to start, then cauliflower tandoori, fish masala, chicken Chettinad, dhal. With all these gravy, some carbs were welcomed. Totally loved the mutton dum biryani. SO GOOD. I was in the mood for naan today, not so much of rice. So we ordered two portions of garlic naan = four big pieces which were more than enough for me and for the others to take a bite from.
A few years ago, we'd have ordered double the amount of food on this table. LOL We were extremely prudent, especially when it comes to the carbs. All these people are on a low-carb diet. Today, it was a modest one portion of each item for four stomachs. Nobody needs to be stuffing our faces full. Oof.
