We intentionally didn't plan to have fancy meals or designated meals at whichever 'best of' eateries. We aren't bothered to do so, and this isn't exactly an eating trip anyway. We're staying in Mongkok, and we're right next to Yau Ma Tei. This is the home of local eats! Just walk to any stall to eat whatever you want off of the menu. Tonight, we opted to stayed in and got food to-go.
Found a random stall that looked decent — 琪昌燒味 on the corner of Argyle Street. Bought siew yoke and roast duck, and the girls insisted on getting 12 curry fishballs from the stall across. Brought them back to the spacious hotel room for dinner for three. It fed us really well. All that pork, and delicious duck. That was definitely half a duck in there. The stall gave us a discount; these two large boxes of roast meats were only HKD60. Wow.
The one thing that I couldn't understand is why the girls like curry fishballs so much! They could even discuss and decide which kinds of curry fishballs are tastier. Dohhh. I love curry and I love fishballs. But I do not like them meshed together in the same bowl! M and S ate 6 fishballs each. I shuddered.
We had stopped by the supermarket to get a few bottles of water, and also got a bottle of easy Médoc for whenever. Opened it up to accompany the meats. The meats and red wine totally complemented one another and went down beautifully in the stomach. We were full and happy, but not overly stuffed.
