I have never ordered this much food at Blu Kouzina unless I'm in a group of six! But this group of four can eat. LOL The best part, the 18-going-on-19-year-old didn't mind splitting an easy bottle of Sémillon with us. That evens out all the volume of alcohol for us old folks since he could definitely take an extra glass off of our liver. Hurhurhur.
The platter of dips had to be ordered — fava, hummus, tzatziki and of course, taramasalata. The dips at Blu Kouzina have always been good, and it was still so delicious last night when eaten with warm soft pita with a sprinkle of sea salt. Mmmm. Four portions of pita were eaten!
We had many meat proteins in the form of grilled octopus, grilled prawns, lamb chops, beef souvlaki and a whole grilled chicken! All were nicely marinated, nothing overly salty and super tender. Lovely. We couldn't have managed all these but there was a hungry young man, and that grilled chicken was ridiculously small and cute.
S wanted to try its dolmades. I was soooo suspicious of dolmades because most restaurants in Singapore can't do it well. Worth a try anyway. These weren't great. Rice was too mushy, and too much vinegar used. And they didn't put perks of pine nuts or anything crunchy for the texture.
The craziest part- we happily drove all the way down to Katong to eat dessert, Asian bowls of tongshui! Hurhurhur! Went to Wan Mei (碗美) for a 糖水 fix. The young man who didn't grow up in Singapore surprised me by opting for black sesame paste with tangyuan. S and the man took the red jelly thingy, and I took my usual peach gum dessert with pear. I do love conversations and makan-time with S (and H, but mostly S, haha. Even better now that their sons are all grown and hilarious af).
