Reading to the Godson

Hopped out to see the godson on alternate days when his parents and grandparents are all out of town. He's in good hands with his nanny/Yaya. I'm just there to entertain him a little, and tickle his floof-sisters who always demand for neck and back rubs. Hehhh.

I don't stay all day, of course, that would be totally getting in the way of his schedule and annoy Yaya doing things. But in the short time I'm there, I'll just let the boy decide what he wants to do. I catch him in between naps or slightly before and after feeds so that he's wide awake. The boy's got his moods. On some afternoons, he wants to read all his books. At other times, he wants me to hold him up so that he could 'walk'. At 9.5 months old, he takes wobbly steps around the play-pen, and tries to 'walk' whenever we hold him.

I read to him. I take a random bunch of his books, show them to him, and he decides which ones he's in the mood for. He knows all books, and hass got his favorite few books. He loves seeing the illustrations and flipping the pages. He would go through the details and impatiently reach out a hand to flip the page.

I'm thankful that I opted for no children. I don't have the patience, perseverance or tenacity to raise a child. Dunno how these parents do it. Hats off to their patience and level of tolerance. I simply enjoy spending time with the little boy because I can return him to his Yaya and parents at the end of the day! He's a lot more expressive now, and I can tease him loads.
