A Feast of Fish, Soba, Tempura & Garlic Beef Cubes!

Went over to N's for dinner. It was a feast! We told her to do a takeout, but she still wanted to cook up an easy meal. She said that homecooked dinner always feels good. It does. Now that she has a dishwasher that she utilizes, we don't feel that bad eating up a storm there. LOL

There were store-bought sashimi and sushi to begin the meal with, a cute bowl of ikura and hotate on rice. Then came soba in a light dashi with tempura prawns and pumpkin. N wasn't quite done. She also trotted out seared beef cubes with garlic fried rice with fried shishamo. And we all forced to have dessert! Nobody went home hungry.

The floofs were very happy running around checking out the smells and what the humans were up to. They ran in and out and up and down before settling down when we were finally seated at the table. The floofs got a taste of the food too! Ryo got the cooked bits of beef and prawns (without the garlic, salt and batter). Choya scored two pieces of ama ebi (あまえび) off of our plates.

I was very suspicious of the drinks that night. Six of us could easily do a few drinks, but not when the bottles came out two by two! They had to start with champagne — that's always dangerous. Then two easy bottles of chilled sake. We also brought along two lovely bottles of whisky for tasting as a digestif. I think everyone was suitably buzzed.
