Steamed Chicken Fillets!

I'm not much of a cook. I prefer not to cook unless it's during a week in which I grow tired of catered/restaurant food and would want some stir-fried vegetables done at home. I like salads well enough, but I also like my vegetables simply cooked or blanched. After a spate of dining out and getting food delivered to the home, it was time to stay in and whip out something simple.

A quick stop at the supermarket after pilates class yielded all the boring but fresh ingredients required for a meal. Got a pack of skinless chicken breasts (two pcs) and a pack of bone-in thighs (three pcs), two heads of broccoli and mushrooms. I have everything else at home.

I portioned out half a chicken breast for Choya and steamed it without the additional sauce and all. I literally added eight bits of salt flakes; yeah, they could be counted. Haha. Also sprinkled bits of dried basil and oregano and added a small stalk of coriander.

Choya loves chimken steamed/sous vide, but I'm not certain if it causes an increase of yeast production and causes her paws to itch. Anyway, I restrict her consumption of it. Her chicken is served over two days and go in as a topper.

For the humans' chicken, they were steamed in Chinese wine, sesame oil and light soy. Removed the breasts when they were done, because I didn't want them to dry up. Then tossed them back when the thighs were done to keep warm before serving. #ImpieCooks2023

Two heads of broccoli were more than enough for us. A big cooked portion was saved for a meal the next day. Of course it would be a stir-fry, the easiest method to do crunchy vegetables. I don't like mushy broccoli. Did it with fish sauce and oyster sauce. I was too lazy to buy whole shiitakes. Got the pack of sliced shiitake. Hurhurhurhur.

Scored some brownie points with the man, although I wasn't trying to. LOL He had a 5pm call and night calls at 9pm and 11pm. I didn't actually know that before deciding to buy ingredients to cook and eat in tonight. So when I came back with food and announced that he would have to settle for a simple dinner and eat what I was cooking, he was sooooo pleased.
