Gems of Friends at Lunch

Happiness is seeing the friends whom I haven't seen for months. With D and J, we frequently check in with one anther over texts. We're happy to share and are clued in on one another's lives. Catching up IRL is simply an extension of another facet of our friendship.

Choya was invited to this luncheon. Awwwww. They made me pick the venue so that she could come along and all of us would be comfortable. To Blu Kouzina we went. It's licenced for pets (ought to support that if it's decent), has a sheltered outdoor area with ceiling fans, the menu had something for everyone.

We exchanged gifts! Such thoughtful gifts. Books, handmade and homecooked items. I loved them all. Amidst laughter and warmth, the luncheon was also tinged with heaviness as we also level out with the challenges of managing aging parents and pets, and their declining health.

We have been friends for years. Wow. We made an effort to stay in touch. I welcome their counsel and frankness. We don't need much from one another, but we all need a support group like this. Like I said, friends aren't here to solve my problems or to lend me money. They're here to lend a listening ear, and that's all I need from friends.
