Ryo Was Happy On The Couch

Bundled up the floofs and went to Tomahawk for dinner. We hadn't visited for a loooong while because neither the man or I could do so much meat anymore. We don't have many friends who could do a full meal of meats or tomahawk anymore. Not even to share. Unfortunately the menu is meat-heavy and super rich, so this has become a restaurant that we like, but couldn't go even monthly.

Tonight, finally we were able to do meats, so we went to Tomahawk. However, we couldn't even do a small 1.2kg tomahawk. Opted for a 400g ribeye, and a pork loin (which will be taken off the a la carte menu soon). Had to have the salted fish burratina, and a clam chowder. The man went for broke and also ate a lobster and seafood squid ink risotto

Dunno why but we decided to try the restaurant's house-made tiramisu. It came with a cute table-side demonstration of caramel 'art' that was placed atop the tiramisu sprinkled with honeycomb and marinated cherries. There was an easy bottle of red, and then a digestif of Lagavulin 16 y.o. We were absolutely stuffed.

Choya was rather delighted with the dinner venue. She asked to go in quickly and was impatient to have to do all the photo-taking prior. Ha! She greeted Chef-Owner John, and her Aunty Ange, and happily slurpped up the offered iced water. She sniffed around and promptly found a favored spot to plop. Ryo checked out his surroundings and promptly sat down. Wow! He wasn't anxious or trembling much.

Ryo's behavior at Tomahawk surprised us. It was beautiful. His newfound calmness in quieter restaurant is not a fluke. He prefers being indoors than outdoors. If we can put some thought into where we take him, we'll be absolutely rewarded with a chilled out pup. Choya doesn't like couches or chairs. She doesn't want to sit right next to me either. 'No hugs Momma!' She prefers the floor. However Ryo totally prefers couches and seems to like being near us.  He had no issues with sitting next to the man with his butt touching his thigh or snoot resting on it.

Although the meal and wine were for humans, we were really celebrating Ryo's achievements. We celebrate his hard work done in 2022 and 2023 to conquer some of his fears of daily urban chaos and manage his anxiety of the great outdoors.

Good job, Ryo! Let's get more of those resolved next year then.
