We were going to check out another eatery along the stretch. But it doesn't take dogs, and I was a bit horrified by the KTV-vibes and very weird menu. So we walked along down the road and went into the way more welcoming Next Door Spanish Cafe.
The restaurant indicated that the al fresco area is strictly for walk-ins. Although they will try to accommodate pets. It didn't matter to us tonight since we walked in. The restaurant has been here since 2019, but we didn't check it out till tonight.
Spanish food can be heavy, and I wasn't in the mood to eat so much tonight. The portions aren't huge, thankfully. Ordered prudently and we put them all away. Had starters of beef cheek with chickpeas, and a salad of Spanish tuna belly with tomatoes, pickled beetroot and peppers. Shared the main of a very manageable pan of paella of pork collar and wild mushrooms.
The heavy late afternoon rains stopped by the time we got to Siglap. So it made for a cool evening. The astro-turf was dry where we were, and Choya happily nestled next to our feet. Dinner was extremely enjoyable. The kitchen was fast; food was 'homey' and decent. Our stomachs were happy.
