Waited for Months to have This Delicious Mee Siam!

Never say no to Aunty J's invitation to a mee siam lunch. All of us waited months of this lunch! Apparently Aunty J didn't cook it for N and S either. Hurhurhur. She found inspiration and rustled up all of us for a full table at lunch.

What a happy table of mee siam with sambal prawns, hard boiled eggs, beancurd, koo chye, and lime. S had four helpings of mee siam! He didn't pile a heap, but yes, four. I had three modest helpings. Heh. I couldn't say no to the thick bee hoon used. I gave it all the stomach space I had for the day.

J brought wine too, so all of us had a glass. Some had two. I didn't want to do much alcohol at lunch, so I only did a small glass and squirmed away. There was dessert. Loads of it! Soy bean pudding, fruits, chocolates. I was so stuffed that I really couldn't do dessert. I did eat a few pieces of guava though.

Fawkes was pleased that we were all here. She is only affectionate with her humans and doesn't like to be touched by anyone. She comes to us at will and on her own terms, only. Woe to you if you randomly touch her. Luckily I do not have a habit of touching dogs unless I know them well. I know Fawkes, so I know her triggers. This is one dog I wouldn't touch. She comes to me to sniff my knees, bump my knees and if I'm at her eye level in the car, she would put her nose to mine. Aiyaaaahh. This girl is very sweet lah.

I'm just pleased to see that Aunty J and Uncle J are doing steady. As they age, we feel that bit more heartache. They're a lot more frail now, but still mobile, and very chirpy. This food that they treated us to, is soooo precious. These make up our core memories.

When it was time to go home, I somehow ended up with two bags. After this visit, it was like I went grocery shopping. I also went home with kueh kosui for the night's dessert, sliced guava for the next day's munching, luffa/petolah for another day's stir-fry, and belimbing to pickle! Wahhhhh!!!
