Onigiri at The Public Izakaya

It has been a long week. I did all that mopping and vacuuming for like 10x in three days, and still turned up at the gym for strength training and cardio. I needed a quiet night and easy dinner. I really wouldn't mind two drinks too. Whisky. Or highballs would work.

After being a lump in bed, I finally rolled out to The Public Izakaya at Tras Street. When we have dogs along at The Public Izakaya, we always get the last table at the end, which ironically ends up being cooler and away from the main din and bustle of the crowd.

When the mega highball arrived, I laughed. They decided to freeze lemon slices in a row and have them stand up in the mug. Tehehehe. Brilliant. We didn't over-order. I was hungry but I couldn't eat that much. The sashimi platter provided more than enough protein for us.

I couldn't resist the poached chicken skin. Hahahah. It was poached, then lightly seared and laid on a bed of onions. PERFECT. I had grilled chicken hearts as well. The husband had some chicken meatballs and gizzard. He also had steamed oysters; very tasty. These oysters are big, and they did come out of a frozen pack, but the quality control is excellent.

I didn't bother ordering a bowl of rice; didn't feel like having that much carbs tonight. I wanted a bit more protein and just a touch of carbs. I went for a set of two pieces of onigiri instead — an ikura (for the husband) and a chirimen for me. Totally hit a spot. I conked out at 11pm that night, and slept long and deep.
