This was a date months in the making. We finally found a common date, and settled on Janchi on Craig Road for dinner. It has been opened for a year; I must have walked by its front door a thousand times and never noticed it was there. Hahaha.
I know nothing much about Korean food or Korean restaurants in town. My dining companions do, so they picked this casual restaurant whose name meant 'feast' or a 'party'. I cleverly popped an antihistamine before dinner. These girls would be wanting the soy-marinated crab.
We were hungry, but we were mindful of stomach space. So three dishes it was, along with banchan. A beef soondubu-jiigae that came with instant noodles, a pretty good haemul pajeon, and said ganjang gejang. It's not totally a drinking place. The strawberry makgeoli was kinda sweet. So nobody could do more than a glass of it, which portioned out nicely.
The ganjang-gejang came as two blue crabs with roe! Wahhh. It was pretty nice. I took a token piece of crab and left the rest to the table who appreciated it more than I do. They happily ate it clean. This is a Korean restaurant, of course gloves were provided and it was all very neat.
