Fried Fish for Luck!

The man and separately had an early start to the morning (different festive events to attend) before going home to pick up the dog to take her along to lunch. She needed a walk too and she loves her mid-day jaunts. The weather cooperated and didn't piss on us although it was really cloud. This would be the last bits of nice weather before the sun and searing heat returns.

We didn't make a reservation and decided to pop in to Chop Suey. It would usually have a free table at lunch. They did. I was really sad that Chop Suey removed laksa from its weekend (and public holidays) menu. Perhaps it isn't popular with their diners. It's getting harder and harder to find decent laksa in Singapore now.

Started with a 1-for-1 glass of bellini. Nothing farther. We didn't want too much alcohol in the system. One glass would be nice to unwind after a morning that demanded our brain cells to function. This would suffice since we were going home for a nap. Heh.

We were hungry. But it was just the man and I, so we didn't want to over-order. We had a small basket of chicken and pork siew mai, which was pretty fun. For carbs, we had a Singapore Fried Prawn Noodles that was still really decent.

Since the restaurant still offered the LNY festive menu, we got a whole deep-fried grouper done Cantonese style with chye poh. It was not too big, about 700g; very manageable to polish off between two persons. It was surprisingly good. I ate loads of fish. A symbolism of abundance then, in '年年有餘'.
