We went for one last brunch at PS Cafe Katong before it shutters on 15 March 2026. While I've sworn off all PS Cafes after the horrid experiences at Dempsey and East Coast, I pop by its Katong outlet once in a long while since it's a convenient meet with friends and their floofs. This al fresco sheltered patio is rather comfortable for floofs. There aren't many of these comfy spots around.
So I'm not here for nostalgia. I'm here at this brunch because it's convenient. LOL A brunch before people fly out on hectic work trips. Of course the floofs came along.
The mimosa 1-for-1 deal isn't too bad at S$21++. One drink sufficed. We had one last laksa at this one, but sadly, the standards have deteriorated. The broth is a lot thinner than what I remember. While they gave loads of prawns and crab meat, the rempah and oomph didn't make it at all.
I've always preferred Chop Suey's menu. The fusion items at PS Cafe taste too much like the weird ones at Jypsy. So they don't appeal.
I definitely won't bother with visiting other PS Cafes anymore. Under its corporate umbrella, there're Jypsy (I call it the weird food place) and rather decent Decker BBQ (apparently more outlets coming besides the OG at Robertson Quay), and the newest Park Side at Botanics. I likely will stop by Park Side at Botanics because it's convenient to friends and all. Otherwise, I'm not bothered.
