Want Not, Waste Not

I don't think I want to pay bht 12,599+++ for a New Year's Eve dinner. Not even if it's at Breeze with Hakkasan ex-sous chef Ho Chee Bun (or Ken for short) at helm.

Especially not when the menu boasts of:

Kobe beef with foie gras and gold leaf :: superior stock with Kam Chin shark's fin :: crispy fried Tiger Prawn wrapped with long beans :: baked Silver Cod with black bean sauce :: jasmin tea smoked Pork Ribs :: wok-fried Vegetables in crunchy ring :: egg white Fried Rice with scallops and Alaskan King Crab :: Bird's Nest Soup

Granted, the view from Breeze is breathtakingly superb. But I just don't buy the idea of paying so much for ambience when only half the menu is to my taste. I love good food. But I'm no gourmand. I'm in Thailand. Be it at a fancy restaurant or street stall, I want Thai food with authentic Thai spices please.

Aiyah - I understand if the menu not to your liking, but pay generously wherever you end up to compensate for the people who work on new year's so the rest of us have a grand time. Best wishes!

go for the street food and thai places. no point going to the usual restaurants that yoiu can get in sgp.

sinlady: we're going to have a quiet one with our own party! refuse to pay! restaurants make the money and it doesn't translate into extra pay for the workers. so it's the tips that we'll put out extra to the individuals!

clamshell+opal: totaly intending on DIY. so sick of dining out.

bluemoon: u have a good one too!

jazzgal: yes. u noticed. it wouldn't do for the friends too. a fair bit are vegetarian.

I concede your point that the workers don't get rewarded. Come back safely.
