There are many ways to do moussaka.
One could use lamb, beef, chicken, etc. We like to do it vegetarian- just with organic eggplants, potatoes, zucchini and tomato sauce with lentils.
One could then cook it in the form of a casserole or dish out as squares. The man has decided on his preferred presentation style. He did it as individual servings in the shape of an abalone.
I just thought that the result looked good on the plate. Definitely appetizing.
It's one of my favorite eats at home.

I love moussaka but it seems difficult to cook at home, is it?
I forgot to add. Your man is very talented in the kitchen. That is exactly how it is served in a Greek restaurant here.
My Mom just said to say thank you - she had it again today and it was awesome.
it looks good! the presentation is great too! =p
wah, so pro! i gave up doing moussaka because mine usually turn out to mushy.
muffingirl: not really. it's quite simple (at least to what i'm seeing!) to cook up. hehehe. thanks for the vote of confidence in him!

sinlady: how abt sherpherd's pie and lasagna?
i can do a mean shephard's/meat pie and awesome lasagna. i think i don't 'cure" the eggplant right for moussaka.
sinlady: i know!!how about lightly pan-frying the eggplants first?
She does :) But she loved the moussaka and she doesn't even usually like it.
Golly... your man must have been a 3 star michelin chef in his previous lifetime? Drool... (over the food and not the man as I am straight)..
"in the shape of an abalone"? haha, that's acute description (though pretty accurate going by the pic!)
dawn: that's something! :))
cool insider: hHEHEHHEHE. he cooks to destress. it's almost like, the more stressed up he is at work, the better the food turns out during the weekends!
beanbean: i didn't know what else to describe it as! heheheh.
