Bowmore Wine-Cask 16 Y.O

Bowmore Distillery has also launched a 16.y.o wine-cask matured single malt.

Of course I tried it. There is the usual classic peat. It is fruity. But it is a little tart to the palette; probably because it's been matured for 10 years in Bordeaux wine casks. At the nose, the tannins surfaced rather strongly. I still can't quite appreciate the flavors wine lends to whisky.

I don't mind it. But I prefer the richness of my favorite Port-matured 16.y.o. It's quite tough to tear me away from it.

I'm not entirely convinced that I can find another bottle I like as much so easily.
