Lebih Banyak Makan

Had the loveliest evening at D and J's. With the sun setting at 9-ish, it makes for a great time chilling out. Something about the sun making those spring evenings cheerful. Their daughters were being impish and quite adorable.

They recommended us to try the selections from Kedai Makan. J went out to grab the food and the boxes arrived piping hot in time to tuck in voraciously. Initially skeptical, the man and I became converts by the third mouthful. It's not as if we crave Asian food overseas. But there's this huge curiosity to find out about the interpretation of it in another city that isn't known for spices unless it contains peppers and chillies. Kedai Makan's food was good. Apparently it started off as a food truck. Its versions of food are pretty authentic. The roti canai was fluffy yet thin, and the accompanying curry was a dhal. Woah. Proper dhal. Delicious. The pork ribs with rice were spicy and tasted very much like...coffee ribs. It isn't a half-hearted attempt to bring Malaysian food and spices to Seattle. It was a full endeavor to re-create what's possible with available ingredients to the best they can. Amazing.

Fantastic conversations. Chilled out on the deck as the sun dipped lower on the horizon. Sunset wouldn't be till 9pm, way past the girls' bedtime. The little ones stayed up and grinned at us. Another time, I'd be happy to go skating down the lane with them. Very glad we managed to meet and chat at length with them.

Hope we didn't bore you to tears! :P Thank you so much for having us. xxxooo.
