Sonic Highways :: Episode 7

Because 'Sonic Highways' Episode 7 is titled 'Seattle' and aired 28 November. A not-so-secret Foo Fighters gig was held at Showbox. Super apt. Makes me worship the band for their dedication to the craft. Love him or hate him, Dave Grohl is so in your face that I choose to adore his guts.

I love the concept behind their eighth studio album 'Sonic Highways'. Eight songs, eight cities. It's a tremendous amount of effort to record one song in a notable music city. But if anyone can do it, Dave Grohl can, and he did. The band isn't letting up on getting in touch with people who buy the band's records and those who support them. They're working hard through Thanksgiving in the run-up to the holidays to do these intimate gigs at small clubs at the city of the new album's songs, even though they have a major tour coming up in 2015 in huge venues. The band was in Los Angeles two weeks ago at House of Blues, then here in Seattle, and they're playing the final small-scale set in New York City at Irving Plaza.

'Subterranean' is the song for Seattle, seventh in the album of eight songs. The final song for the night was 'Everlong'. Three full hours. Reminds me of Perth, but different vibes. :) You don't need to hear me gush about Foo Fighters or 'Sonic Highways' both the film and the album. Full details in Gillian Gaar's review for The Seattle Times.
