In honor and love for our American-Korean teacher who now live thousands of miles away from us, we decided to pop by her favorite Korean restaurant in Bangkok for dinner- Kongju. The restaurant has been around for more than two decades, and is one of her preferred options for Korean food when she lived in the city.
Skipped the buffet and opted for a la carte options. In fact, we've never bothered with the buffet or the BBQ options. Hahaha. The friends and I share the same tastebuds and feelings about Korean cuisine. Tonight we didn't bother with rice or noodles. Ordered the restaurant's wonderful dish of braised beef ribs stewed in a whole pumpkin, grilled pork shoulder and lightly seared salmon. I loved the accompaniment of raw cabbage, green chillies and garlic. They were fantastic to nibble on alongside the savory items.
We also love this cold appetizer of gujeolpan served on an octagon tray. It consists of nine tiny items which included cold shrimp meat, egg, pulled chicken and flavored cucumber and radish—wrap them up in thin wheat pancakes, dip in sauces and eat. So good. This could be my main anytime!
