Cavemen

Fine dining with a dog now comes with a twist. We sit outdoors in sportswear, eyeball the dog and make sure she doesn't get in anyone's way. Thanks to L for the excellent recommendation (not that it's any of her business to ensure a good experience, because that's the establishment's job), we totally enjoyed dinner at Cavemen. The outdoor tables were perfect and because we brought the dog along, we asked for the far corner table which was happily given to us. The staff were attentive, and they welcomed Choya.

Selected our steaks at Cavemen's butchery, where they have a wide selection of raw meats. You could take those home, and have the kitchen cook it for your dinner right there. On top of the prices of the meats, there's a fair cooking charge from S$15 (400g or less) and S$25 (401g to 800g) to S$75 (1801g and above). We chose a nice cut of ribeye, a New Zealand grass-fed Angus. The steak was served beautifully grilled. I think it came with veal jus, but we didn't bother about it. Salt and pepper were great with the ribeye. Ordered mash and brussels sprouts to go with the steak. They were delicious! The man cut a sliver of meat for the dog. But she turned her nose up at it. Hahahahahah. This girl doesn't quite know how to eat human food! He left it on the floor, and she completely ignored it for the rest of the evening.

The pastas and other selections on the menu were decent too! Had to have carbs in the form of a seafood linguine done aglio e olio. The man had stomach space for a pecan pie for dessert. Went along with the restaurant's red of the month- a blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and cabernet franc in a brainless and easy 2015 bottle from Clarendelle Rouge, Bordeaux. It was a such an enjoyable night.

I have also recently discovered Cavemen while walking around to cool down after a jog. Went back to try it very soon after and love the food and attentive staff who explained each dish patiently to us.
