What's Good for Your Dog?

There's a surprisingly large number of irresponsible and blind pet owners who cannot see faults in their pets (some owners don't bother even picking up poop), or keep their pets away from other dogs, and humans. I most certainly do not want your enthusiastic dog humping Choya, pee or drool all over her. Or me. As much as you love your pooches (I've less to complain about cats because they don't go out), they're still animals. There're unknown triggers for animals to bite and snarl and swipe, so I fully believe in keeping dogs on the leash in public.

Many dogs are ODDLY, not well-socialized. I thought Choya is jittery and ill-mannered, so training continues. She has improved tremendously, and she's slowly learning to control her excitement. Nowadays, my gawwwd, when I see the behavior of other dogs outside at parks and restaurants, I'm stunned, like, "Wow, Choya, you're an angel." Some dogs are just rude and not well-trained and simply spoilt. I'm just glad that the few dogs we meet and socialize with on walks are cool and calm, and their owners are equally sane. Whewwww.

Choya is currently on tick and flea prevention monthly medication—Nexgard Spectra and Frontline, combined, which might be a bit excessive. *shrug* Let me mull over what works. I'm not going to take chances when this dog goes out to play in parks and is toilet-trained on grass. The neighbors said that their dogs got ticks from fellow (smelly) dogs in the area. WTF right? How do you not check your dogs after each walk or take preventive measures? I believe in vaccinating the dog (children, and myself). I don't believe in over-vaccination, so I'm going to get her tested for existing antibodies, and see what we can skip. I'm certainly not going to tell another owner what's good for their dogs; in return, do not impose your opinions on mine either.

I've completely shut out the forums, discussion sites and reddit threads where dog-owners run rampant. There're anti-vaxxers, fundamentalists, holistic advocates and the same old painful proselytizers for dogs as there are right-wing strange humans for other humans. Here's a photo of how much fur a daily brushing rakes out, using a Furminator that many disapprove of because they believe that it shaves hair that isn't ready to fall out. Please. There's a technique to brushing, and if the hair is going to be pulled out with every stroke, the dog ain't gonna lie there pliant for you to be brushing.
