Popped over to Coney Island

With the cool temperatures dissipating with the end of February, we made the effort to get out to Coney Island before the crazy mosquitoes swarm back. Also, March will see our pace of work pick up, and the call schedules are crazy. Although I’ll be at home churning out work, I’d have a lot less time to take the dog out to play. We went at 5.30pm, just as the heat of the day decreased and there was still light.

We had so much fun that we forgot about the time and were a tad late. We came out at 7.15pm just before the gate closed, and saw the guard waiting with his motorbike. There were few people coming out late before and after us too. We saw a number of photographers and assistants, and a few couples decked out in wedding gowns and suits in sandals and track shoes.

As the sun set, we went to get dinner just next door at the very convenient Punggol Settlement with all its food offerings. It was a 45-minute drive up here, so we might as well make full use of the effort, and sorted out a super decent spicy-enough meal at Trunk 95. What a fun outing! There're so few green spaces in Singapore. Glad that the rich ecosystem at Coney Island is protected.

We didn't rent a bike. Well, neither the man and I could ride a bicycle very well. Muahahahah. We only intended to take a short stroll with the dog. She was very happy. We were so tickled to see her reactions to the green. The park would smell different from the rest of the sanitized versions. There's a lot more wildlife in this one. Dog was super excited sniffing around and darting everywhere. There was a gorgeous breeze wafting through, and it was still blessedly cool by Singapore standards. We savored the last of the fabulous weather. Lookin at how dry it had been, the heat would come back with a vengeance after the weekend.
