A Superb Breakfast at Dearborn

I don't usually eat at Dearborn. I just pop by to collect my orders, or hop in to see what's available that day. The granola bowls are available daily, but it's the Saturday granola and savory specials that are worth a bite. On a Saturday when we strolled in, there were empty benches and we had a space. Decided to have breakfast there.

The man wanted butter and toast. Okay. So I got him the smoked cheddar and chilli cheese sourdough. He loved it! It matched the cup of cold brew coffee. He's not a fan of sourdough generally, unless they're done super savory, not too sour, and lean towards the softer side. It was quite delicious. Still, I'm not a sourdough fan at all.

They didn't have hot coffee, so I didn't bother with it. On this sizzling morning, I could skip caffeine and get a thirst quencher. I opted for a refreshing glass of yuzu citrus soda instead. I loved this sort of sodas made in-house.

I was awake at 6am this morning and had a 45-minute swim. So by 10am, I was hungry and didn't mind breakfast — one of the rare times that I could eat in the mornings. I couldn't resist the toasted buckwheat English muffin with a nutty pecorino and pea pesto seasoned with toasted sunflower seeds, snap peas, pecorino cheese and lemon zest. This savory iteration is fabulous. Totally my kind of food. 💚

I would be super stuffed, but I had to have the Chef's Granola: Strawberries and Cream. I love their iteration! I do love their granola bowls; they give me inspiration as to what I can do at home, or not. This bowl isn't possible for me to recreate at home, and it would be best enjoyed here — fresh strawberries, granola, cranberry granita, crème fraîche ice cream and lemon oil. This is the best bowl of granola for this hot summer of 2022.
