We didn't make a booking and simply walked into Mami's Tamales for a late dinner. It's a casual tamaleria, and it was exactly what we were looking for. I'm not fond of Mexican food in general. I'm not even particularly fond of guac and chips. I like guac, but not so much of tortilla chips. But I like tamales and molletes (open faced sandwiches).
We weren't that hungry, and we couldn't eat too much at this hour. So we prudently shared and ordered in moderation. There were chalupas poblanas with pulled beef, and the husband wanted a hearty soup of pozole. of course a tamale with pork salsa verde, which I wanted to eat with Mexican rice.
Mami's served up pretty decent food. We'll pop by whenever we would like sandwiches and easy things. We could not do dessert, and I'm definitely not into churros. But the man could do a horchata. Okaaaay. Not my thing at all. Heh! I simply finihsed up my frozen mango margarita, and that was quite enough as the after-meal sugar.
